The Kid Comedian Emmanuella And The Fragility of Fame by Dammy Adunni okin

A star today didn't become a star overnight. A star has something different he/she explores before becoming morning sunshine.

There're stars that come out late and some early, but in entertainment industry, all over the world, always start from an early age. We have the likes of Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, Bow Wow, Lil Mama, Whiz Kid, Cynthia Morgan and few of the actors we grew up to know.

Going by recent developments coming up at every corner of Nigeria these days, is it advisable to encourage the girl-child to blossom in the entertainment industry now? This brings me to the kid-comedian, Emmanuella.

Yes, she's Nigeria's youngest sweetheart at the moment but to what end? What impact is the fame and exposure are having on her? Of course, every parent wants to see their Children make it big early in life, but a child is still as susceptible as anything thing tender in age and growth.

I grew up to know that "children can't handle two major lives together" which are education and frivolity. These two take a large junk of the mind which can never maintain a balance for a "Babe" (biblical representation of a growing child).

Let's come to men; can we really be sure that it's all about them just laughing and not having weird dirty thoughts?

I have heard ladies complain of sexual assault and harassment in the entertainment industry. I am sure she may not be exempted from it now or nearest future. Yes, it may look bizarre and out of place but strange things keep happening in "men's world" that one could not believe they could ever happen years back.

Unfortunately, pedophiles are not obviously known. Entertainment industry is wide, and they have men with different "sexual attitudes".

So many children, just children and not entertainers this time around, are exposed to unhealthy situations daily which affect their lives sooner or later not to say a deliberate action of walking majestically into the devil's trap.

The bank may be booming with cash and very attractive but life might be so frustrating if there's a slight change from the normal way we should have lived it.

Some would say she would rather be encouraged in a White people’s community and I tell you to mention those we knew then that have done not badly at all in aspect of drug abuse, violence, and undue sexual activities. How have they managed the fame? We should remember that this is Nigeria and different things happen completely opposite the normal way.
Fame is a stage of metamorphosis, it changes who you are to whom you ought not to be. Children should be encouraged to go to school  because that's the only thing we understand in Nigeria and the only way to stand in the storm no matter who they become later.
